My name is Lynn Bradshaw and I am an English teacher, travel writer, fiction writer and blogger.
On my website you will find some examples of my travel writing, information about my Hirve Park crime series which is set in Estonia, information and samples from my Bishops Abbey cozy crime series and some thoughts about writing.
I was born in the town of Wigan, Lancashire, in 1960. I grew up in the town going to Wigan Bluecoats Infants and Junior School up to the age of 11. It was at school that I was introduced to the twin wonders of reading and research. My memories are of reading books about heroes and heroines, especially Grace Darling. I also have fond memories of projects on the history of the post office, the Ceylon tea industry and the origin of Jaffa oranges.
After secondary school, I went to Edge Hill College of Higher Education and then did some retail and kitchen jobs before retraining as an EFL teacher. As an EFL teacher I working in Taiwan, Spain, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Germany. During this time I did a lot of travelling, learnt a few languages and met some very interesting people. In 2002 I came back to the UK which is where I have been ever since.
I have taught writing skills since the early 1990s, so it was only natural that I would take up writing in some form. From around 2002 to 2007 I was in a reading group. The discussions we had and the books we read greatly enhanced my knowledge of fiction genres. In 2011 I joined a writing group and have been writing fiction ever since.
In the academic year 2013-14 I attended some courses at CityLit and The Bishopsgate Institute in London which have helped improve my writing tremendously. I have signed up for a Guardian Masterclass in editing in the hope of improving my writing still further and finishing off the novels I have cluttering up my hard drive.
